My Boy Jack

Directed by Brian Kirk, this film tells the story of Rudyard Kiplings son and his battle to be accepted into the army, his journey through it and the distress his family face. Kirk compiles a very emotional and heart wrenching story that starts with a short sighted Jack (Daniel Radcliffe) trying numerous times to be enrolled into the army but is declined. After his father gets involved in the persuasion he is then straight into training.

The story follows Jack through his training and him climbing to the top. All the way throughout the film it shows the two parts of the story. It shows how his family are handling him being away at war and how overjoyed they are when they receive letters from him alongside his life in the trenches.

One of the main advantages of this film for attaining information on World War 1 is the fact that this is in colour unlike most of the previous films that I have watched whilst researching this topic. This is especially important for costumes and props to get an accurate perception of the life that they lived during the war.
